Title: Place of marriage of Alice Pennington and Robert Flowers
Post by: William Flowers on July 11, 2005, 01:23:01 PM
Obviously finding the place and date of marriage between Alice Pennington and Robert Flowers could be the key to finding the origins of both.  This topic is for a discussion of those possibilities.  All ideas are welcome.

There has been a tradition that the marriage took place in Devon, England.  No one has been able to find sources for that tradition.

Has anybody ever thought of the possibility that Alice's surname was not Pennington ?  Could she have been a widow when Robert married her?  I have been watching Sharpes Rangers or something like that and it seems if the soldier was killed in order for the woman to stay she had to remarry within a couple of days of the death of her husband usually a friend of the dead soldier.  Now does that mean they married legally or did they simply live together and were thought to be married.  Just something to throw out and think about.l  I just can't believe there is nothing about her or anything.  Just something to think about
